about

The Cycles EP is a visceral and personal introduction to the nomoon project, exploring the idea that ‘normal’ life is constantly evolving, confusing, beautiful, and scary, all in one mess of liveliness. There are ups and downs, joys and pains, and expressing these moments with honesty can help us process and feel less alone.

Following their recent singles Masks, and Sands, come Dust Room and These Experiences, rounding off a touching, emotionally charged debut that channels honesty, and vulnerability, culminating in a self-described ‘cathartic experience.’

Dust Room is ultimately about being isolated and captures those moments of strange, slow exploration through your own mind and spirit when being confined to a room.

These Experiences - the final single and music video taken from the EP - came together after the discovery of the Human Podcast by Jess Mills. The song samples a clip from an episode, with guest Clover Stroud, named ‘The Agony and Ecstasy of Loss.’

“It resonated in lockdown with both the loss of freedoms and the much more painful, close to home losses of much loved people. The song is a journey through that grief with both sad and hopeful moments, with Jess Mill’s words at the centre becoming the mantra that ties it all together.
The music video, all filmed from a laptop web camera, tries to capture both the slowness and emotional waves that happen in day-to-day life, in lockdown too, but really whenever we’re alone. We wanted to capture the journey that happens during mundane tasks when no ones looking, and how we’re left after connecting with people digitally and through objects like photographs.” - nomoon

The alt-electronic, London-based duo originally came together via different musical genres, backgrounds, and lifestyles, finding common ground through emotional experience. The two bonded over honest discussions covering themes around introversion, burn-out, identity, and music industry lessons.

The nomoon project is focused on the strong emotions that emanate from that simple city life, the things that threaten to destabilize us for better or worse and encourage us to grow. It began to evolve into a project for the people, the common voice of experience. “The music is what happens in the gaps, and aims at expressing the beauty and brokenness of what it is to be a human being.” Jamie.
